Epiphany Catholic Church is an active and engaged parish community of 1,100+ families and was founded as a post-Vatican II parish, drawing parishioners from across Louisville, Kentucky to its picturesque 18-acre campus. Known for its dedication to meaningful, community-involved worship and a vibrant music ministry with over 50 ensemble musicians/singers, an adult choir and a bell choir, Epiphany seeks a new Director of Worship and Music to lead this important ministry within our church.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning of the liturgical and sacramental celebrations and other liturgical rites (e.g., funerals, weddings, etc.) in consultation and collaboration with the pastor, associate pastors, Worship Committee, and other staff members
- Providing for the recruitment, training and scheduling of all liturgical ministers
- Overseeing the aesthetic décor of the worship space
- Recruiting volunteers to assist with worship activities
- Coordinating, planning and developing a comprehensive music program for parish liturgical celebrations
- Recruiting, scheduling and supervising musicians (volunteers and stipend positions) for all liturgies including children’s catechetical or liturgical programs
- Supervising the Choir Director
- Overseeing the organization and maintenance of all worship and music resources
- Developing the annual Worship and Music budget, procuring all required materials and services
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree with preference in Liturgy, Liturgical Music, Music or comparable field of study or equivalent experience
- Two years of experience in liturgy and music in a parish or similar setting preferred
- Demonstrated vocal and/or keyboard/piano proficiency
- Leadership, organization, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with parishioners and parish staff
- Willingness to engage in the liturgical and prayer life of our parish
- Familiarity with Roman Catholic liturgical theology and foundational liturgical planning experience
- Willingness to accommodate a flexible work schedule which includes weekend masses
- Familiarity or ability to learn digital tools for managing liturgy and music resources, scheduling worship volunteers and musicians, and editing musical arrangements
- Some competency in speaking Spanish is helpful and a plus
