At this morning's general audience, the Holy Father challenged us all again, especially those of us who live in the affluent West, to replace our culture of "waste" with a culture of "solidarity."
He linked his, and the church's, concern for the environment with our concern for human ecology, condemning the influence and power and cult of money in the strongest terms. I know our friends on the right are always talking about "wealth creation," but the Holy Father seems more intent on creating solidarity. And, of course, the patent on solidarity belongs to the Nazarene.
