This interview at Forbes, with Fr. Robert Sirico, caught my eye. I have no doubt that Fr. Sirico is sincere when he says that he wants to help the poor. I also believe that there are innovative micro-credit programs that use the instruments refined by capitalism to assist the poor. Still, this has the feel of propaganda. I would feel better if I knew that, if faced with a binary choice, of upholding the "laws of the market" and helping the poor, Fr. Sirico would unabashedly choose the latter.
