Notre Dame's Rick Garnett has an op-ed in today's LA Times in which he sides with Hobby Lobby in its challenge to the contraception mandate. I think Garnett is wrong, but this is the most thoughtful statement of the viewpoint I do not hold that I have seen so far. He raises the serious issues involved, and they are serious, but ultimately, the idea that for-profit corporations can exempt themselves from generally applicable rules and laws on religious liberty grounds opens a very dangerous slippery slope.
