Jana Bennett on The Other Big Chill

Yesterday, I called attention to Cathleen Kaveny's article at Commonweal about the "big chill" surrounding discussion of Humanae Vitae in recent years. In a new post at CatholicMoralTheology.com, Jana Bennett argues that there is a different big chill, the one within the academy that freezes out those who do not dissent from the Church's teaching. Bennett relates the discussion to the CTSA report on the lack of diversity within CTSA, which report was first published publicly here at Distinctly Catholic. It is my sincerest hope that Kaveny and Bennett will get together soon and help chart a way forward, a path that has less chill and more conversation.
