Jesus & Football

My dad sent me a clipping about a recent controversy at the University of Connecticut where new assistant football coach Ernest Jones said he wants the players to know that "Jesus should be in the center of our huddle." Turns out, Mark Silk has already commented on the episode, making the important point that keeping Jesus in the huddle may have been kosher, as it were, at Notre Dame where Jones worked previously, but that at a public university, no single religion gets the exclusive right to hear the play call. Of course, my good friend Professor Silk missed the more important point: Jesus was meek and mild. I wouldn't want him in my huddle if I could have Russell Wilson.
