At HuffPost, Carol Kuruvilla on the Rev. Franklin Graham's declaration that President Trump's decision to bar refugees from Syria is "not a Bible issue." The good reverend did not disclose which Bible he was consulting in making this judgment. 

I post Archbishop Charles Chaput's latest column without comment. I am rarely speechless but this left me speechless.

At Our Sunday Visitor, Robert Christian, whom we know from his editorship of Millennial, on the "Erroneous Autonomy" conference I helped work on.   

In the Chicago Tribune, Cardinal Blase Cupich tells the mayor and city council that the plague of gun violence is akin to the great fire, and that they must demonstrate real leadership in confronting that violence 

The Oscar nominations are in, but I don't go to movies. So, I shall nominate this statement about Trump's executive order on sanctuary cities from the USCCB for the category of "worst, most scandalous statement by a USCCB chair." More on this Monday. Conversely, I want to applaud Cardinal Timothy Dolan for his fine and courageous sermon at last night's Vigil Mass in advance of the March for Life. It took courage to speak about sanctuary in front of a big room filled with people who voted for Trump. The absence of applause was noteworthy.
