At Chicago Catholic, Fr. James Keenan, S.J., recounts a recent meeting a group of moral theologians had with Pope Francis. "We left stunned and speechless," after the meeting, Keenan reports, but in a good way not a bad one.

At Axios, a report that the White House is considering the elimination of the deductibility of state and local taxes. If they go down that route, I will venture to predict that the legislation will fail.

At the Washington Post, Greg Sargent looks at the GOP's second attempt to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act and concludes it is even worse than their first bite at the apple. Note to Democrats and those concerned to make the ACA better: Start laying the groundwork for the argument that, if the GOP's second attempt fails, they cannot be allowed to let the problems with the ACA, some of which are real, go unaddressed. This is not about political posturing. This is about making sure people have the health care they need.
