Yesterday, I put up a recording of Mozart's "Dove sono." Because it is raining for about the tenth day in a row, and we all need something beautiful to keep us going, here is another exquisite piece of music, "O Sleep why dost thou leave me?" from Handel's "Semele" sung by Kathleen Battle. For all the reported difficulty of her personality, I submit that Battle's voice is simply the best at the delicate phrasings of Handel's arias, bar none.
