Buona festa a tutti! As we are are Roman Catholics, this feast day belongs to all of us. Two special shout outs to the good people at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Omaha, Nebraska, who celebrate their 100th anniversary with a special guest, Cardinal Blase Cupich, whose grandparents helped build the original church, and to Cardinal Sean O'Malley, OFM Cap. on his 73rd birthday. Ad multos annos!

Speaking of Cupich, this video from WGN in Chicago looks at how one parish in Chicago is coping with the violence that plagues the city. 

At Higher Ed, Trinity College suspends Professor Johnny Eric Williams for his objectionable tweet after the shootings at the GOP congressional basebal practice. I am a fierce defender of academic freedom, but with that freedom comes responsibility and the college president's decision seems right to me.  

And a BIG thumbs up to Politico for taking on the Southern Poverty Law Center which has become a kind of caricature of leftist activism. There was a time when the organization played an invaluable role in promoting civil rights, but it has declined into ridiculousness at times as this article amply and ably demonstrates.
