At the Washington Post, best reason to be proud to be Catholic? Aaron Blake on Trump's Catholic problem: Hillary is clobbering him among RCs. I suspect that the reason is, as John Gehring is quoted as saying, that our RC DNA is more allergic to nativism than that of your average Protestant's DNA. One thing is clear: In swing state after swing state, if Trump can't find a way to appeal to Catholics, not just Latinos but white Catholics too, he has not shot at the White House.

From our friends at the Africa Faith & Justice Network, Fr. Aniedi Okure, O.P.'s opening remarks at a conference on land grabbing, one of the many ways multinational corporations are raping developing countries and their people. The money quote: "The question is, if Ghanaians keep giving out large chunks of land to corporations, where will future generations of Ghanaians live, farm, and build homes and schools for their children? We are setting up conflict for future generations."

From the Catholic Labor Network, some resources for celebrating Labor Day. Wouldn't it be nice to see the USCCB really start making a big deal about Labor Day? A statement is nice, but the fifth floor only really gets excited when discussing theology of the body, how much they hate Obamacare, and misunderstanding the theology of cooperation with evil.

At RNS, and a propos of my post this morning, Guthrie Graves-Fitzsimmons has a splendid satire: Donald Trump closes his foundation on account of his campaign.

Fans of Donald Trump were scammed out of a million dollars. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people. Delectatio morosa in spades.
