Webb is Right

Former Sen. Jim Webb is reportedly considering a presidential bid. In this morning's Washington Post, Webb said that the problem with the Democrats is that they have become a party beholden to special interests. This is undoubtedly true. But, the shame is that Webb will have a hard time garnering any traction as a candidate without the support of those same interest groups. Only a real crisis would give a party leader the chance to break the power of those groups, the kind of crisis Obama faced when he took office six years ago. Regrettably, he did not use his power to break that power and, in fact, played the special interest game more effectively than ever before.
