Bridgeport, Conn. priest's meth supplier sentenced

According to NBC Connecticut News:

"Chad McCluskey, 44, of San Clemente, California, was charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine, and 50 grams of actual methamphetamine and sentenced on Wednesday.

McCluskey and his girlfriend, Kristen Laschober of Laguna Niguel, California, were arrested in Las Vegas on Jan. 10, 2013. On April 18, 2013, they both pleaded guilty last year to drug conspiracy charges for supplying four pounds of meth to [former Msg. Kevin Wallin, 61] of Waterbury. Laschober awaits sentencing.

Federal prosecutors said the couple sent between one and three pounds of meth to Wallin on a monthly basis for around four years.

Prosecutors were looking for an eight-year sentence, while McCluskey's defense team is sought a five-year sentence."

Wallin was a close, personal advisor to three successive bishops including Walter Curtis, Edward Egan, now the retired cardinal of the New York archdiocese, and William Lori, who was promoted to archbishop of Baltimore.

Under Lori, Wallin was a chaplain to the Order of Malta and appointed rector of the diocese's cathedral, St. Augustine, located in gritty downtown Bridgeport.

Meanwhile, as my NCR colleague Brian Roewe recently reported, Bishop Lori resided in a luxurious 9,000 square foot home in a wealthy suburb, which the new bishop, Frank Caggiano, is planning on turning into a college seminary where Caggiano will have a small apartment.
