Gonzaga University boasts not only the top-ranked basketball team in the nation, but also the No. 1 spot nationwide for the number of graduates of small colleges and universities serving in the Peace Corps.
Currently, 24 alumni are serving overseas, bringing the Spokane, Wash., school's all-time number of Peace Corp volunteers to 314, the school announced.
Interestingly, Washington state this year is also home to the schools with the most graduates of medium and large colleges and universities serving in the Peace Corps: Western Washington University in Bellingham and the University of Washington in Seattle, respectively.
Gonzaga's sister Jesuit campus, Seattle University, ranks fifth in the U.S., with 19 alumni as current Peace Corps personnel.
Gonzaga is one of 80 schools nationwide to offer a Peace Corps Master's International program in collaboration with the Peace Corps.
