A Pennsylvania State Senate committee, in an apparent victory for the state's Catholic bishops, voted to extend the statute of limitations on future sex abuse cases but rejected the right of child victims, now adults, to sue over retroactive cases. That provision was the most contentious part of a bill passed by the State House of Representatives. Opponents of the provision argued that retroactive punishment violated the state constitution.

Turkey, a regular victim of violence, does not need to be scapegoated, ostracized or criticized in the aftermath of this attack. It needs our support.
