NCR's annual Webathon begins Sunday

Next week is the big week.

Beginning tomorrow, and running for seven days, NCR is having its annual -- now second year running -- Webathon. We need you to join in and donate to keep us going. We need your help. You come to this Web site for news, analysis, commentary and inspiration. And, yes, we know some of you come here to join in the many conversations generated by our coverage.

NCROnline.org has grown dramatically in the last couple years. In these past 12 months, 1.5 million unique visitors have come here for valued information. Now you will have the opportunity to help us keep this Web site going.

It has never been more important to keep independent Catholic journalism alive. This is our aim. We hope this is your aim too. And, of course, the service we provide costs money. Reporting costs more than commentary. Our reporting becomes the base for Catholic commentary here and on countless other Catholic Web sites and blogs throughout the Internet.

Come Sunday, you will see an example of our coverage. NCR Senior Correspondent John L. Allen Jr. will be reporting from Saint Peter’s Square on the beatification of Pope John Paul II.

Come here Sunday to read his reports. And then come back frequently during the week to read the testimonies of many NCR readers who rely on us for solid, professional reporting.

This will be the one week of the year that we ask for your support on this Web site. Please join in. Please donate. Please help us to keep this very important service to you alive and growing.
