The pope is to visit Ireland in August for the World Meetings of Families. The Irish government will tell the Vatican that families "of all shapes and forms" should be celebrated during Pope Francis’ Irish visit. Other points of interest: the Irish government says it would be appropriate for the pope to visit abuse survivors in Ireland. While Francis' visit is not a state visit, it will be treated as such in terms of security measures and cost.
