NCR welcomes four new writers to Young Voices

Back in March, we put out a call for writers under the age of 30 to join our four established Young Voices columnists in sharing their views of the church. More than 40 young writers sent in their resumes and applications, and we were overwhelmed with how wonderful they each were.

You may have seen some of the new names around the website already, but we wanted to take a moment and introduce each of our new writers to you.

Zachary R. Dehm is a student at the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, working toward his Master of Theological Studies. Zachary is also a graduate web assistant in the Instructional Design and eTeaching Services department at the college, and he tutors at the Connors Family Learning Center. His columns can be found here.

Brian Harper, a 2011 graduate of Marquette University, is a writer, musician and community outreach coordinator for a small business. His writing has been published in America magazine, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, CounterPunch, PolicyMic and various other print and online magazines. His columns can be found here.

Mike Jordan Laskey is the director of Life & Justice Ministries at the Camden, N.J., diocese. He has a bachelor’s degree in English and a master's degree in theology, both from the University of Notre Dame. Mike also blogs for the Camden diocese. His columns can be found here.

Jennifer Mertens will graduate with her Master of Divinity from the Catholic Theological Union in August. Before that, she studied at St. Louis University. Jennifer teaches religion at a Catholic high school in Cincinnati. Her columns can be found here.

Zachary, Brian, Mike and Jennifer join Kate Childs Graham, April Gutierrez, Jocelyn A. Sideco and Nicole Sotelo on the Young Voices beat.
