NCR's newest Bertelsen intern, Sarah Salvadore, reports from New Jersey: Cardinal Tobin leads hundreds of Catholics in protest against ICE in Newark. "Today, I stand in solidarity with my brothers and sisters in Christ to decry the treatment of children who bear the trauma wrought by immigration enforcement raids, separation from their families and indeterminate detention," Tobin told the crowd of more than 400 clergy, sisters, students and activists.

One of GSR's Horizons columnists is in the final countdown to final commitment. Sr. Colleen Gibson, soon to make her final vows as a Sister of St. Joseph, reflects on the path she's taken.

Associates — laypeople who have made a public commitment to a religious institute — have their own part to play in the changes religious life is undergoing. To get perspective and guidance from a prominent vowed sister, associates will host LCWR president Sr. Jayne Helmlinger at regional meeting in Pittsburgh.

Confused and/or riveted by U.K. politics this week? Michael Sean Winters takes a look at Prime Minister Boris Johnson's poor prospects, and discusses how, on both sides of the Atlantic, disruptors bring chaos, hyperpolarization instead of leadership.

This week's letters to NCR cover a variety of issues, including readers' thoughts on 2020 election, Napa Institute, a synod for women and more.
