Your thoughts: In early June, the Vatican office responsible for overseeing Catholic educational institutions around the world put out a document against modern gender theory, claiming that it seeks to "annihilate the concept of 'nature.' "

Pope's quotes: "To be firm in the faith means the capacity to receive faith from others, to conserve that faith and to pass it on."

Your thoughts: Within the past month, NCR published three editorials calling for Catholics to pay attention to the humanitarian crisis happening at our southern border. 

Pope's quotes: "Children, who have no problem in understanding God, have much to teach us: they tell us that He accomplishes great things in those who put up no resistance to Him, who are simple and sincere, without duplicity."

From New York City to the southern border, thousands of pro-immigrant demonstrators in hundreds of cities gathered July 12 to protest Trump Administration immigration policies.

Your thoughts: The U.S. bishops' conference held their annual spring assembly June 11-14 where they took further steps into accountability and transparency in dealing with clergy sexual abuse.

NCR received the following email from Tom Halden, director of the office of communications for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, regarding the story posted June 12, an interview with Catholic entrepreneur Tim Busch.

Pope's quotes: "We are all called, good and bad. The Church is not only for the good, or for those who seem good or believe themselves good. The Church is for everyone, and even preferably for the wicked, because the Church is mercy."

Your thoughts: Recently, James Carroll wrote an article for The Atlantic calling for the priesthood to be abolished. NCR published three different responses to Carroll's call.
